This lofty space with its sheer white curtains that billow between diners and drinkers has a smart dining room, alluring lounge and elegant bar. Dark bent wood chairs and floorboards bestow a French bistro feel in the dining room, and the pristine white tablecloths complement the large sparkling wire-ball chandeliers that hang from the high ceilings. Assorted furnishings such as plush Italian leather couches and an antique Indian day bed match the modish artwork that hangs between ornate arched windows. Steal yourself a balcony table for al fresco refuelling between shopping shifts along Rundle Mall below or sashay over to the 14-metre Calcutta marble bar for a drink.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
Modern Australian fare with an Italian accent can be found on the tempting menu, which features a series of small plates for the taking until 9pm, and other belly-filler main courses. Dine on the likes of chilli pepper squid, served on crispy fries and capsicum aioli or another booze-soaker dish of sticky barbecue mini pork ribs, on spiced fried chats. A main dish of char-grilled Coorong angus tenderloin, topped with cognac flavoured pate, served on parsnip puree and pepper glaze is robust in flavour and a tangy dish of salmon fillet, topped with thyme, chilli and lime, wrapped in banana leaf and oven baked, is equally impressive and served on a bed of buttered julienne vegetables and drizzled with a lime and honey dressing. The wine list complements the accomplished cuisine with its list of quality local Adelaide drops, and a glass or two will be the perfect accompaniment to the chocolate fondue.
FUNCTIONS
Hotel Richmond can cater for a range of function events including conferences, birthdays, weddings, hens and bucks nights, or product launches. The first lounge, bar and restaurant is available to hire exclusively for large events of up to 150 seated guests or up to 450 for a cocktail-style function. It can also be sectioned into smaller areas for more intimate gatherings. There are three private function rooms: The Balcony Room, The Boardroom and The Green Room that offer the perfect variety of space to host conferences, meetings, training sessions and presentations.
