Victoria Park may not be a suburb associated with fine dining but lately it’s begun to earn quite a reputation for smart little eateries and better-than-average restaurants. The opening of The Silver Spoon earlier this year has undoubtedly contributed to the area’s new-found popularity for good food, putting Victoria Park on Perth’s culinary map. A slick interior of black, white and silver hues with gleaming natural light by day gives this venue a distinct freshness – a welcome change for Albany Highway. Not only does it have an ultra modern fit-out, it also boasts a remarkably innovative menu designed by chef Michael Illari.

Sourcing his produce from well-respected suppliers in local regions, Michael is committed to offering diners cuisine that’s sure to impress. Quality ingredients feature strongly throughout the entire menu with starters like carpaccio of Wagyu beef and beef tartare with quail eggs, pea cress and lemon oil proving this chef knows his stuff. The grilled pancetta king prawns with asparagus, truffle pecorino and baby chard salad is also a dish sure to entice many over the Causeway bridge. Main dishes are also a feast for the senses, combining distinct flavours and textures to create the likes of duck and mushroom tortellini or the assiette of beef. This mouth watering dish is a perfect choice for diners seeking an iron fix with a variety of flavours, and consists of roast fillet and celeriac puree, confit cheek, chilli jam and braised Wagyu with spinach. Our local beef farmers would definitely be proud of this one. The Silver Spoon also holds regular special events such as degustation evenings and West Australian wine dinners. If the superb a la carte menu is anything to go by, then these special events are well worth securing a ticket for.
